What is Speaking or talking? Are they both synonyms? No, there is a difference between both. Speaking is something where people give their opinions or views to make others understand something at large. Talking is when two or more people converse with each other with any intention like to persuade, express a feeling, gossiping etc.
Students at one point need to stand up and speak in front of a group of people, so students need to be taught the Art of Speaking to be successful. At first, when students are given to give a speech they are nervous to speak even in front of their classmates. Slowly the students are able to boost their confidence and with practice, they are able to subside their nerves and then they are able to enjoy the process of speaking. While working on public speaking also helps to develop overall fluency.
To inculcate Speaking Skills in students an Educator needs to prepare him to do public speaking. To be a good speaker first we need to remove our stage fear. Stage fear can be removed by analyzing the stage and the audience we are going to face. It is a must that we should have eye contact with our audience. To connect with the audience the content of our speech should be interesting. We can start with a story or a beautiful quote. Humour should be present in your speech so that your audience may not be bored.
School is the platform where the students get prepared for public speaking. A good speaker never imitates anyone else. So, students should be taught to develop their own style of speaking. Speaking helps to develop the personality of a student. Speaking develops thinking and creative skills in students. Speaking develops a mind into a projector. For speaking, we need to start with minute things. We need to start by talking, and then we can indulge ourselves in discussions and then conversations. This helps to develop our confidence level and slowly by slowly we can start our public speaking. Speaking helps to develop our speaking skills.
I would like to end my article with the quote If you can speak, you can influence. If you can influence, you can change lives. Speech is power: Speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.
