Wood in the Hills - Sneha

The English Book Depot recently spent two productive days at Woodstock School in Landour for their annual book fair, and it turned out to be the perfect mix of hills, hustle, and happy affair!

The day started early, with the team arriving with checklists and cartons of books, ready to set up for students across different grades. Amid the chilly air and quiet trees, the displays were arranged, and children started visiting the stalls with visible enthusiasm, peeking in and already trying to spot their favourites.

Many of them showed a strong interest in adult fiction and classic literature, even though those categories weren't permitted for their age group. The team had to guide them to suitable sections, but their curiosity was a clear sign of how eager children are to explore beyond their usual reads #BrewingKnowledge.

The team arrived with incense, tea boxes, and stationery, carrying not just reading material but a range of thoughtful items beyond books, and incense sticks were particularly popular. Although incense couldn't be used in the dorms, students still bought it to give to their parents. They spent time carefully choosing fragrances, which added a thoughtful element to their shopping, and with the cold weather settling over Landour, tea packets turned out to be the surprise bestseller. They sold out faster than any display title, and by the end of the first day, the team wished they had carried more stock.

Overall, the two-day fair was engaging. The English Book Depot team interacted with hundreds of students, observed their reading interests, and saw firsthand how strongly the school community connects with the books and small comforting items #ReadToLead.
